Morbark LLC located in Winn, Michigan is looking for Operations Manager.  Morbark LLC offers competitive compensation and a variety of benefits including: * Health, Dental and Vision Insurance * 401k Plan with company match * Profit Sharing * Paid Vacation and Sick time * Paid Holidays * Tuition reimbursement Qualifications Position Summary:    Under administrative direction, this position maintains responsibility for manufacturing and producing quality, whole goods, and spare parts within the production schedule.  Consistently achieves productivity and efficiency goals.  Manage staff, preparing work schedules, and assigning specific duties through supervisors to maintain and improve safe, high quality, and efficient operations. Supports the safety of facility operations, the maintenance of equipment and facilities, and improves quality and operation efficiency.   Essential Functions of the Job:   * Will lead production operations in LEAN manufacturing methodology and train production personnel, including supervisors, in LEAN methodology, and continuous improvement. * Determine staffing levels and workforce schedules based on workloads and knowledge of products and materials. Maintain the operating plan relative to production demands and deadlines. * Set work schedules by the department to ensure the workforce is available to the production schedule. * Assure we have the equipment needed and is functional to produce according to schedule. Ensures that products and parts are shipped according to agreed ship dates. * Coordinate activities of managers/supervisors to achieve production schedule in line with productivity and efficiency goals. * Delegate prioritize and oversee projects of production managers/supervisors. Initiates or recommends personnel action(s) such as promotions, transfers, disciplinary measures, and terminations through appropriate channels and by following proper procedures. * Assist production managers regarding any employee actions as necessary. * Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, and Production Planning regarding schedules and problems. * Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.  Analyze and resolve work-related problems. * Write and submit Capital Expenditure requests with appropriate studies and justification to enhance and maintain production. * Assure the security and integrity of the facility. * Drive safety improvements and ensure the plant is following all safety rules, regulations and policies. * Other duties as assigned.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):   * Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities. * Knowledge and understanding of production control and scheduling with regards to workforce requirements and production schedules. * Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques such as 5S, Continuous Flow, Kanban required. * Demonstrate the ability to drive for improvement of business goals and objectives through effective use of programs, tools, and resources. * Thorough knowledge and understanding of production: specifically fabrication, machine shop, mechanical assembly, stockroom, warehouse, welding functions, and related processes. * Experienced and familiarity with the review and analysis of income statements and balance sheet information. * Skilled and proficient with the use of personal computers, including standard office software (i.e., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel); JDE experience a plus. * Able to think critically and identify solutions to problems. * Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with various levels within the organization. * Excellent leadership skills, ability to problem solve, persuade, and motivate others. * Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills required. * Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends. Bachelor's degree required, preferably in: Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Industrial Management or related.  Master’s degree preferred. 2. 7-10 years of prior supervisory experience required. 3. 7-10 years of industrial manufacturing background required. Previous experience with in a steel manufacturing design and manufacturing facility or truck-mounted equipment and industrial machinery preferred. 4. Formal LEAN manufacturing training with a quantifiable record of successful LEAN execution preferred.
