JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with four years of manager/director experience within a fulfillment/distribution environment.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Solid leadership skills
  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping and transportation industry, and product offerings from the United States Postal Service, United Parcel Service, Federal Express, and other sources.
  • Takes the leadership role in driving initiatives, working across organization, and structuring approaches to new opportunities.
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge to produce Excel reports and PC-based skills
  • Demonstrates ability to articulate and provide insight to employees in a matter that creates an understanding and alignment to the business focus/strategy.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and implementing solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of leadership, business development, profit and loss, business management, and improvement of the fulfillment center.
  • Set the proper example and positive tone for the operation and make sure that all is performed at optimal effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Conduct freight negotiations and manage freight relationships.
  • Consult and interface with internal and external teams to ensure commitments made to shipping partners are appropriate, goals are coordinated, and partner expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Direct and manage the day-to-day business of the fulfillment center by managing a team of leads and supervisors responsible for he operation’s day-to-day activities including inbound and outbound shipments, returns processing and directing staff.
  • Review and analyze the workflow of scheduled shipments. Remove obstacles to ensure commitments are kept, issues are addressed, operational goals are met, and continuous improvements are made to the processes and operations.
  • Review the daily fulfillment orders and forecasts ahead of the time needed, determine staffing needs, ensure employees are scheduled to meet the demand of inbound/outbound volume and make staffing assignments. Ensure all equipment and resources are clean, in proper working order and ready to meet the schedule’s demands.
  • Lead fulfillment center staff in setting and achieving goals and objectives. Help build effective teams by creating goals and providing development plans for self and direct reports.
  • Using effective communication and leadership techniques mentor, coach and develop managers, supervisors and hourly employees. Actively coach, counsel, and direct staff, set expectations, facilitate training, growth and development; and hold employees accountable for their performance.
  • Supervise the team’s performance and build an effective team by helping, supporting, communicating, and providing the support and direction to the team’s efforts. Administer disciplinary action to associates who violate company policy.
  • Write SOP’s to ensure consistency in the operation’s work and activities.
  • Foster a highly focused safety culture that is compliant with federal and state regulations, company policies, procedures, and cGMP regulations and encourages that by maintaining a safe and secure work environment.
  • Monitor the customer service aspects of business; providing support and resolutions to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. Contribute tot the continued development and active management of our shipping partners’ platforms executing against key activities and joint shipping initiatives.
  • Using creativity and strategy to make recommendations to maintain labor costs, improve productivity, develop modifications to procedures and processes impacting the work group, maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs that will enable the ability to meet and exceed business goals, while maintaining cost-efficiency.
  • Communicate operational information openly to senior management to keep them informed, to resolve issues to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Communicate and work with all applicable departments to ensure an efficient and accurate flow of inventory into and out of fulfillment so the needed physical inventory is maintained. Works with Supply Chain personnel on cycle counting and areas to be counted in order to monitor and audit the inventory to ensure it matches what’s in the computer tracking system.
  • Communicate with appropriate individuals/departments throughout the shift regarding any information or issues that may affect or impact them.
  • Communicate with and keep direct reports well informed regarding items requiring their attention and impacting them; and help keep them aligned to the Company’s values, goals, results, initiatives, policies, procedures etc.
