About the Role

Olympic Wholesale Company Limited is seeking an experienced and strategic Operations Manager to oversee warehouse operations, transportation, fleet, facilities, and overall operational efficiency across the organization.

This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and cost-effective operation of all company facilities, warehouse functions, and transportation activities. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong operational, logistical, and facilities management expertise within a fast-paced wholesale or distribution environment.

The Operations Manager will play a key role in optimizing productivity, improving processes, maintaining compliance standards, managing teams and contractors, and supporting the company’s continued growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage warehouse, transportation, maintenance, cleaning, grounds, and security teams
  • Develop work schedules and assign operational responsibilities
  • Conduct performance evaluations, training, coaching, hiring, and disciplinary actions
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative, safe, and high-performing workplace culture
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement across all operational departments

Warehouse & Transportation Operations

  • Supervise daily warehouse and transportation operations, including receiving, order picking, loading, dispatching, and deliveries
  • Ensure operational compliance with SOPs, food safety standards, transportation regulations, HACCP, and GMP requirements
  • Maintain 24/7 operational readiness and responsiveness when required
  • Oversee route planning, dispatch coordination, fuel usage, and delivery efficiency
  • Monitor operational KPIs and implement strategies to improve productivity and customer service

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee maintenance and functionality of warehouses, offices, yards, parking areas, loading bays, and staff facilities
  • Ensure all facilities, equipment, and infrastructure meet operational and safety standards
  • Plan and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of essential services including power, heating, plumbing, water, and lighting systems
  • Support facility expansion, refurbishments, and space optimization initiatives

Refrigeration, Electrical & Utilities Management

  • Oversee maintenance of refrigeration systems, cold rooms, and freezers critical to FMCG operations
  • Manage electrical systems, generators, plumbing, lighting, fuel systems, and utility services
  • Monitor utility consumption and implement cost-saving and energy-efficiency initiatives
  • Coordinate repairs and emergency maintenance responses as needed

Fleet & Asset Management

  • Oversee inspections, repairs, maintenance, and compliance for fleet vehicles and material handling equipment
  • Maintain accurate records for fleet assets, facility equipment, maintenance schedules, and service history
  • Ensure forklifts and warehouse equipment are maintained and safely operated
  • Manage capital equipment purchases and replacement planning

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with workplace health and safety, fire, sanitation, and environmental regulations
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and compliance audits
  • Maintain fire protection systems, emergency exits, evacuation procedures, and incident reporting protocols
  • Ensure contractor and employee adherence to company safety policies and procedures
  • Respond to emergencies and implement corrective actions when required

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Appoint, supervise, and evaluate contractors, maintenance providers, and external service vendors
  • Manage service agreements, SLAs, and vendor performance standards
  • Oversee external services including security, cleaning, pest control, waste management, catering, parking, and technology support providers
  • Ensure timely and quality completion of contractor work

Inventory Control & Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor inventory accuracy through audits, cycle counts, and system reporting
  • Ensure proper product rotation, labeling, traceability, and quality control procedures
  • Oversee receiving, storage, returns, and inventory flow optimization
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, efficiency, and cost control

Financial & Budget Management

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor operational, maintenance, and facilities budgets
  • Track departmental expenditures and ensure alignment with company cost-control objectives
  • Approve purchases and manage vendor relationships
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising operational performance

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare operational, maintenance, compliance, and performance reports
  • Analyze operational risks, gaps, and areas for improvement
  • Lead or support implementation of new operational systems, technologies, and process enhancements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, and senior Leadership teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, operations, or facilities management
  • Minimum 1–3 years of leadership or management experience
  • Experience within wholesale, food distribution, retail, FMCG, or transportation environments strongly preferred
  • Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, transportation logistics, facilities maintenance, refrigeration systems, and building infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of health & safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, and compliance standards
  • Experience with ERP systems, Sage X3, ProducePro, or dispatching software is an asset
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
