THE CANDIDATE

Briggs is looking for someone who brings:

  • Proven experience in marine or terminal operations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • A proactive, solution-focused mindset with the ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel, MS Project and SharePoint)
  • A flexible approach to working hours and operational demands

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • ILM level 4 Leadership and Management (or equivalent)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001, 14001, or 45001)
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM)
  • Kelvin TOP-SET Senior Investigator
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will lead the operations team for a key contract. They will oversee technical performance, compliance, budget responsibility, engagement and business development, promote best practices and forge strong relationships with external stakeholders, among other management duties.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of operational staff, covering all areas of the Port of Liverpool
  • Building effective relationships with external stakeholders, including Peel Ports, Liverpool Pilots and berth and terminal operators
  • Daily management of the operations budget
  • Developing and promoting best practices for marine operations
  • Devising, implementing and reviewing operational processes and procedures to meet company and customer standards
  • Together with the Technical Manager, manage technical performance and protection of assets associated with the contracts
  • Ensure adequate resource allocation to meet operational demands
