JOB SUMMARY

The Grand Hotel – Torquay, Devon
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee our daily operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our 4 star hotel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operational management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive efficiency and productivity across various departments. This role requires a strategic thinker who can implement effective processes and foster a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

  • To ensure the smooth running and profitability of the hotel.
  • To take control and accountability for the day to day operations of the hotel.
  • To create a welcoming and comfortable environment for our guests.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Overall management of the Operational Departments, and managing all HOD’s.
  • To maintain a safe and secure environment, overseeing risk assessments.
  • To maintain key departmental controls, such as purchasing controls, Payroll control and profit margins.
  • Implement standards and ensure their delivery across all departments in the hotel
  • Achieving operational budgets and targets as set out in our budget
  • To ensure that all customer service standards are set and maintained.
  • Complaint handling – responding to verbal and written complaints in a set time frame.
  • Ensure that there is appropriate Management cover in the hotel at all times.
  • To offer a Management presence in the hotel to the customer.
  • To move the hotel forward in terms of Sales.
  • To keep up to date with legislation and implement as required.
  • To identify, provide and evaluate learning and development.
  • Always be aware of the competition and what they are offering.
  • Check all staff rotas after the HOD’s have completed them to ensure they are effective for the business.
