Working Hours: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm
Location: Twickenham, TW2 7SG
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, dependant on experience
Serco’s Environmental Services provide a complete waste and recycling service on behalf of the residents and community. With a professional, dedicated, and friendly team of Refuse and Recycling and Street Cleansing staff, we ensure that streets, homes, and businesses are kept clean, safe, and tidy, whilst providing the very best levels of customer service to all members of the community that we serve.
We are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team to lead, manage and be responsible for the performance of a local authority contract in environmental services, within a demanding commercial environment.

Responsibilities

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To implement rigorous processes for performance and measurement utilising and/or developing the appropriate suite of KPI’s and using the data to drive decision making and operational improvements.
  • To implement and manage a robust health & safety (people, vehicles, operations & environment) culture in full compliance with corporate governance policies, procedures and systems and all relevant legislation ensuring compilation of data and commitment to improving the safety and welfare of our people and environment within which we work.
  • To conduct regular team and departmental meetings, monitoring and taking action to ensure business targets and objectives are met, including submitting accurate and timely reports to the appropriate line management.
  • To provide leadership and management to the business such that all employees understand and adopt the strategy and plans and are motivated to achieve their objectives in a timely and professional manner.
  • To have oversight and ensure the day to day running of the service is maximised to performance and use of equipment and labour through direct reports in your business area.
  • To ensure that adequate training is provided for all employees to provide the service requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner through effective personal performance development process.
  • To ensure that the areas of the business that you are responsible for are optimally structured, reviewed, managed, and operated accordingly (people, vehicles, and operations).

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO DO THE ROLE

  • Ideally you will be working as an Operations Manager or similar with experience in managing multiple departments with-in a multi-disciplined contract environment.
  • Management Level 5 or equivalent experience
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification is desirable.
  • CPC Licence holder is desirable, but essential to obtain within first 18months if successful.
  • COTC qualification is desirable, but essential to obtain within first 18months if successful.
  • Experienced with managing direct and indirect reporting lines.
