As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee external water metering installations and upgrades. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and compliant delivery of metering programmes, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and driving operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Proven experience managing external water metering, utilities, or groundworks operations.
Strong knowledge of excavation, boundary box installation, and reinstatement processes.
Excellent leadership skills, with experience managing field-based teams.
Understanding of industry regulations, compliance standards, and health & safety.
Ability to work closely with clients, customers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth service delivery.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performance monitoring and operational improvements.
Experience working within contractor environments and meeting SLA requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading, managing, and optimising all aspects of our water metering external works programme. This includes excavation, installation, maintenance, reinstatement, compliance, and team performance. The successful candidate will work closely with field teams, client representatives, and senior leadership to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of external water metering projects, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Manage and lead a team of metering engineers, groundworkers, reinstatement teams, and supervisors, ensuring high performance and productivity.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements, health & safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor KPIs and performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work closely with client representatives, and key stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and deliver against contractual commitments.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to improve efficiency and streamline service delivery.
  • Manage resource allocation, ensuring the right workforce, equipment, and materials are available to meet project demands.
  • Oversee customer engagement strategies, ensuring a positive experience for households and businesses receiving metering installations.
  • Ensure accurate reporting, progress tracking, and compliance documentation.
  • Lead on problem-solving, resolving operational challenges swiftly and effectively.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, training, and development within the team.
