Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Operations Officer for the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of HR processes, supporting career progression, fostering a culture of excellence, as well as providing high level support to a number of senior committees. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working closely with other members of the core professional services team, you will play an important role in shaping and implementing HR and Equality Diversity and Inclusion policies within the Department.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

You will provide guidance, advice, and support to all staff in liaison with the HR Business Partner, ensuring our policies are up-to-date and aligned with current practices. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for HR operational activities and will be instrumental in encouraging an inclusive and collaborative work environment. You will be enthusiastic, organised, proactive and able to manage a varied and busy workload.

  • Advise on and implement a range of HR processes, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on HR and EDI matters, promoting diversity and inclusion within the Department.
  • Conduct regular reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of HR and EDI initiatives and propose improvements as appropriate.
  • Manage recruitment and induction processes for staff across the Department.
  • Analyse data available to the Department in relation to HR and EDI and identify trends and areas for improvement, presenting findings in reports to ensure awareness of key issues.
  • Provide high-level support, including minute-taking, to various committee and senior leadership meetings within the Department.
