SHIFT TEAM LEADER - POWER STATION

West Sussex | Up to £80,000 + Benefits | Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Shift Team Leader with a background in Power Generation or similar industries?
We’re seeking a skilled professional to oversee the Operations Team and ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant running of a modern power station in West Sussex.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong operational leadership experience, a technical background, and a proactive approach to safety and plant optimisation.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Relevant technical qualification (HNC or equivalent).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a power station operational environment with supervisory experience (EfW, Coal, CCGT, Biomass, CHP, or Nuclear).
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualified.
  • Senior Authorised Persons status or high voltage experience is advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Senior Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watch-keeping experience (Petty Officer/Chief Petty Officer/Warrant Officer) will also be considered.
Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the shift team, deputising for the Operations Manager as needed.
  • Ensure the plant operates within safe parameters, fully complying with HSE regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee safety systems, including the permit-to-work process; act as an Authorised Person for issuing permits, switching, and isolations (experience up to 33kV desirable).
  • Provide technical supervision and guidance to company and contract staff.
  • Train, monitor, and develop shift personnel, including personal development plans and competency reviews.
  • Support outage planning, plant improvement, and optimisation projects.
  • Work within Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
