We’re seeking an Operations Standards Specialist to join our HSQESS team. This pivotal role provides professional expertise and leadership in developing, maintaining, and auditing operational standards and procedures for Auckland’s rail operations. About the Role As the Operations Standards Specialist, you will: Provide expert advice on operational safety and rail standards. Lead the development, review, and implementation of operational and emergency procedures. Investigate incidents, analyse root causes and trends, and recommend improvements. Conduct competency assessments for Train Service Managers and safety-critical staff. Represent AOR in key forums with KiwiRail, Auckland Transport, and industry bodies. Support training programmes, including Rail Incident Controller and ICAM training. Chair operational working groups and coordinate emergency exercises. Your work will directly influence the safety and performance of Auckland’s rail services, ensuring AOR continues to meet and exceed regulatory and operational standards. You’ll bring: Extensive experience in rail operations – ideally as a Train Service Manager or in a similar supervisory role. In-depth understanding of New Zealand rail rules, regulations, and safety standards. Proven ability to prepare and implement technical and operational documentation. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. The confidence to engage constructively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
