Description:

We are seeking an operations supervisor for our client in Hearst, Northern Ontario. The organization is into the transportation of petroleum products and manufacturing of motor fluids. The Operations Supervisor will play a crucial role in effectively mobilizing and closely monitoring front line operations team members through effective people management and operational efficiency strategies. This position will cover 90% transportation and distribution, and 10% manufacturing. Hence, we are looking for professionals with supervisory experience either in warehousing, distribution, transportation and or production.
What you do
*
Coordinate weekly delivery schedules considering equipment, driver availability, and customer priorities.
*
Oversee the monitoring of operational expenses, including budget variances and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
*
Improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and safety through process implementation, training, and fuel management practices.
*
Propose and execute operational priorities aligned with the yearly tactical plan and support cross-departmental initiatives.
*
Ensure all reasonable precautions have been undertaken to prevent injuries or accidents in the workplace. Lead regular safety meetings, mitigate risks by ensuring daily activities follow internal safety protocols and applicable regulatory agencies and complete necessary investigation/reports.

Proactively identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
*
Validate all certificates, licenses etc., are up to date and drivers are operating in compliance with government regulations.
*
Lead by example and provide firsthand assistance to ensure operational efficiency during peak periods or when team members require additional support.
*
Delegate the workload among all team members and establish an accountability structure.
*
Lead all aspects of team member performance management: coaching, counseling, training (ride along), following the progressive discipline approach, performance appraisals, etc. Provide regular feedback, address performance issues promptly, and foster an environment of continuous improvement.

Communicate and track performance standards that are specific and measurable.
*
Promote two-way communication by leading daily and/or weekly team and/or individual meetings.
*
Lead the recruiting, selecting, onboarding, and training of team members.
*
Authorize team member vacation to ensure accurate backup. Complete weekly schedule and approve timesheets/pay.
Who you are
*
You are a safety-focused leader with fleet management experience and you have a thorough understanding of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and dispatching efficiency.
*
You have at least 2 years experience as a supervisor overseeing multiple sites and ensuring accountability while fostering a culture of safety.
*
You are a strong communicator and change agent who can inspire and lead teams.
*
You have a proven track record of leadership, accountability, and driving positive change in a supervisory role.
*
You possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. College degree in supply chain and/or operations management or equivalent preferred
*
You have a valid class G license and clean driver’s abstract.
*
You can lift 50 pounds for occasional support with tasks in the warehouse and fuel deliveries.
*
You have knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and OHS Act.
*
You have experience with the use of Microsoft 365 applications and electronic logging devices
*
You possess analytical skills to problem-solve and coordinate difficult situations
*
You have experience in performance management, team mobilization, delegation of tasks, coaching, and training.
