JOB SUMMARY

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Senior Operations Support professional to provide critical Fleet Reach Back Support for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) operations through the Surface Warfare Tactics Development (SWTD) program. This position requires an experienced military professional with extensive Aegis Weapon System expertise who will provide real-time analytical support to operational commanders worldwide. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Analysis (RFAs), maintain situational awareness of global Fleet operations, and provide tactical guidance development. This role combines deep operational experience with analytical capabilities to support combatant commanders and fleet units in dynamic operational environments, including potential 24/7 support during emergent combat operations.
Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Security Clearance of SECRET and TS/SCI eligible
  • Minimum of 12 years of military experience and/or relevant industry/government experience with surface navy’s combat systems, C5I, networks, weapons systems, and IAMD planning tools/systems
  • Five (5) years of experience aboard Navy cruisers, destroyers, frigates, or within qualified Department of Defense warfare areas
  • Qualified and experienced in watch stations with authority to employ Aegis Weapon System (Tactical Action Officer (TAO), Air Warfare Coordinator (AAWC), or Battle Watch Captain)
  • Possess Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter or BMD Watch Officer qualification letter
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative assessment methods to support warfighting readiness, capabilities, and capacity evaluations
  • Experience in post-weapons firing mission analysis of Aegis weapon systems
  • Strong understanding of IAMD operations, threat assessments, and weapons employment tactics
  • Knowledge of Operations Research methodologies and analytical processes
  • Experience with Navy tactical publications development and review processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in operational environments
  • Strong communication skills for briefing senior military leadership
  • Proficiency with Navy operational planning systems and databases

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced operational environments requiring immediate analytical responses
  • Must be able to handle classified materials in accordance with security protocols
  • Work environment includes 24/7 operational support requirements and potential shift work
  • Ability to work extended hours during crisis situations or combat operations
  • Must maintain readiness for rapid deployment to support emergent operations

Responsibilities
  • Provide analytic support for operational reach back requirements to answer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Analysis (RFAs) from Combatant Commands (COCOMs), Numbered Fleet Commands (NFCs), Carrier Strike Group/Expeditionary Strike Group (CSG/ESG) staffs, and fleet units
  • Address new threat assessments and adversary capability improvements or changes in weapons employment through comprehensive analytical responses
  • Evaluate, assess, and contribute to RFI/RFA review processes supporting recommendations with and from technical, analytical, and operational organizations (NAVSEA, JHU/APL, NAWDC)
  • Develop, edit, modify, validate, and verify RFI/RFA response products ensuring accuracy and operational relevance
  • Augment SMWDC reach-back cells as directed when combatant commanders/numbered fleet commanders request 24/7 support in response to emergent/combat operations
  • Review and monitor Fleet operations including employment schedules, deployed operations tasking, fleet requirements, training and readiness levels, and casualty reports
  • Inform Lines of Operations (LOOs) for SMWDC staff based on comprehensive fleet operational awareness
  • Provide expertise in Operations Research methodologies, policies, and procedures to conduct analysis of SMWDC mission areas including Air Warfare (AW), Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Mine Warfare (MIW), and Surface Warfare (SUW)
  • Maintain status of day-to-day Fleet Operations and track current system status to afloat units including Casualty Reports (CASREPS)
  • Track employment schedules of Navy assets including operational-level tasking and Fleet requirements
  • Review, update, and develop tactical guidance in publications including Tactical Memorandum (TACMEMO), Navy Wide Operational Tasks (OPTASKS), Battle Orders, Class Tactical Publications, Capabilities and Limitations Information, and Fleet Advisory Messages (FAMs)
  • Review, update, and develop Joint Publications (JPs), Navy Warfare Publications (NWPs), and Navy Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (NTTP)
  • Conduct post-weapons firing mission analysis of Aegis weapon systems to inform tactical guidance and operational recommendations
  • Provide real-time operational support and expertise during crisis situations and combat operations
  • Collaborate with technical organizations and fleet units to ensure accurate and timely information flow
