Description

The Maury Service Authority is hiring a full time Operation Support Technician
The Operation Support Technician supports the execution of difficult skilled trades work maintaining and performing maintenance of operations equipment and all MSA facilities, supporting treatment facility operations, maintaining records, and support preparing reports. Conducts related work as apparent or assigned. Supports facility operations, has standard full‐time hours but is also on call when needed. The Operation and Support (OS) Technician reports to and coordinates closely with the Operations Support Manager, or Operation Support Coordinator.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in mechanical maintenance, operations, and/or construction of water/wastewater treatment facilities or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of the installation, repair, and maintenance of the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components of pump stations and water/wastewater treatment system equipment; general knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions of the work; skill in the use and care of the tools of the trade; ability to determine improper operation of pump station and treatment plant equipment, and to take proper remedial action; ability to work from sketches or blueprints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, vendors, customers, and general public; ability to effectively communicate with others; ability to carry out difficult oral and written instructions; ability to work under adverse conditions; ability to establish knowledge of federal and state regulations governing water/wastewater treatment, pumping systems, distribution systems, and collection systems; ability to work independently, carry-out departmental priorities with minimal guidance, understand and follow oral/written instructions, and maintain reports and records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors, and the general public.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Possession of a CDL with Tanker Endorsement and DEQ Land Application Certificate within specified time frame by Operations Support Manager. Possession of Wastewater Works Operator license or Water Works Operator license is a plus.

Responsibilities

ü Supports implementation of maintenance programs;
ü Assist in maintaining all MSA assets, equipment, and facilities;
ü Carries out and participates in the repair and maintenance of all MSA facilities;

ü Supports the OS Manager and/or OS Coordinator on a daily/regular basis of the maintenance of the MSA facilities and supports determining maintenance priorities;

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Assists and conducts land application of biosolids;
  • Supports WTP and WWTP Operations;
  • Contribute to the implementation of standard maintenance procedures, quality control protocols, and quality assurance efforts;
  • Develop competency in understanding construction drawings, facility O&M documents, manufacturer technical documents, and facility design specifications;
  • Aid troubleshooting system and equipment difficulties and resolves same in a timely manner;
  • Assist maintaining Asset Management programs for all MSA facilities;
  • Cultivates positive relationships with maintenance personnel;
  • Participate in the activities of preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement, and servicing of all MSA facilities;
  • Supports implementation of the installation of new and replacement equipment, electrical and controls, and related appurtenances for all MSA facilities;
  • Ensures effective and timely maintenance for compliance with all government laws, regulations, guidance, requirements, and recommendations;
  • Support research, compiling, and analyzing data concerning current maintenance and operational needs;
  • Assists with complex assignments and operational decision‐making processes;
  • Advocates for and provides a safe work environment;
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records on maintenance for submission to supervisors;
  • Supports maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment including chemicals, tools, office supplies, janitorial supplies, etc.;
  • Promotes and advocates individual ideas and problem solving;
  • Supports operations of the facilities which may require working outside normal work hours and filling in as an operator; and
  • Performs related tasks as required.
