We are seeking a proactive and experienced Operations Systems Engineer to support and scale the systems and workflows that underpin our listed and unlisted fund operations.

As an integral part of the ETF operations and portfolio management teams, you’ll drive improvements by enhancing existing processes, developing internal tools for greater reliability and efficiency, and facilitating the smooth transition of platforms and data providers as our product and infrastructure evolve. You’ll report to the Digital Transformation team manager, ensuring your work aligns with our broader technology strategy and delivery standards. This role requires close collaboration across investment operations, technology, compliance, and product functions to deliver scalable, robust solutions for both listed and unlisted fund models.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in process Improvement engineering role or similar, ideally with exposure to automation or intelligent systems.
  • Proficiency in Python & SQL with an understanding of how these apply to data-driven solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and being resourceful in finding answers to new questions.
  • Experience working in the financial services would be beneficial.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a wider team, demonstrating strong time management and the ability to manage diverse stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders and supporting production workflows, including those with automated or AI-enhanced components.
  • Experience in AWS, CICD, Docker and Temporal.io would be advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and time management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and optimise the performance of existing automated processes, applying your understanding of financial or investment operations to identify key areas for improvement.
  • Identify automation opportunities and implement robust, maintainable solutions to reduce manual effort and improve process reliability.
  • Designing, building, and testing new tools to support future product offerings.
  • Ensure all operations tools are well documented from a technical engineering standpoint.
  • Support operations and portfolio management teams in analysing the root cause of operational issues relating to engineering solutions, leveraging your industry knowledge to quickly pinpoint challenges.
  • Onboard and integrate APIs from data providers, custodians, fund administrators, and other external services.
  • Collaborate with the wider Betashares engineering team to ensure new tools and systems meet internal standards for quality, security, and performance.
