Description Job Title: Team Lead Department: Test Strips Reports To: Value Stream Manager Status: Non-Exempt _____________________________________________________________________________________ Main Function: The Team Lead supports the production team by coordinating daily operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and facilitating communication between team members and management. Although this position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities, the Team Lead plays a critical leadership role by guiding peers, monitoring workflow, and supporting the achievement of production goals. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating schedules and departmental needs within the Slitter area of Test Strips. Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am – 3:15pm. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Act as a point of contact for the production team to communicate issues, updates, or concerns to management. Informs all necessary parties of quality issues, including but not limited to the Plant Manager, other Operations Managers, QA/QC Manager, Vice President of Operations and Quality, etc. 2. Assist in coordinating production schedules, material flow, and resource allocation to meet daily targets and KPI’s for the overall department goals. 3. Provide on-the-job support and guidance to production staff to ensure work is performed efficiently and correctly. 4. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or incidents. 5. Perform quality checks and notify the appropriate personnel of any deviations or defects. 6. Train new employees on work procedures and safety practices under the direction of the supervisor. 7. Monitor equipment and process performance, escalating issues to maintenance or management as needed. Ensures all preventive maintenance is performed on all equipment. 8. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies or opportunities for optimization. 9. Maintain accurate documentation of production data, shift logs, and other relevant records. 10. Becomes fully trained and competent on the respective equipment and maintains such competency. Miscellaneous: 1. Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to: a. Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event. b. 5-S program in department or other areas assigned. c. DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the department’s and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations, and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly. d. Encourages staff to participate in all of the above. 2. Conducts team meetings as necessary. 3. Complies with all Company policies (i.e., personnel, safety, etc.). 4. Performs other duties as assigned. (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.) Requirements Qualifications/Job Requirements: • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of manufacturing or production experience • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, safety, and quality standards. • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Good mechanical aptitude and equipment operating skills • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple tasks • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel with the ability to learn and use company business software • Able to transport up to 50 pounds and handle a loaded pallet jack • Able to wear a chemical cartridge respirator and train to administer first aid/CPR Environmental Factors & Physical Demands: • Works indoors in temperature-controlled and humidity-controlled environments. • Requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing step ladders, transporting up to 50 pounds, handling a loaded pallet jack, operating a computer, and operating various equipment as needed. • Requires mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, communication, judgment, decision making and troubleshooting skills, ability to multi-task and attention to detail. • Must be able to wear a chemical cartridge respirator if needed. • Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
