JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record to prepare reports using Microsoft Excel.
  • Expertise in handling, processing, and storing specimens using a computerized system.
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs regularly and stand for the entirety of the shift.
  • Excellent communication skills and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Previous repository/laboratory experience preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Strong critical thinking and strategic prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities to successfully implement tasks.
  • Knowledge of Universal Precautions, general laboratory, and quality assurance/control.
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Training for Class 6.2 Shipping.
  • Blood Borne Pathogens Training.

WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, and hazardous agents.
  • Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Must lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs.
  • Must handle materials frozen on dry ice (-78°C) or liquid nitrogen (-196°C) for up to 6 hours per day.
  • Must use a computer for up to 6 hours per day.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and store samples efficiently.
  • Use an inventory management system for data entry, sample tracking, and management of samples.
  • Coordinate and prioritize workload to ensure quality-minded, accurate operations.
  • Pull samples and confirm accuracy for outgoing shipments.
  • Prepare outbound shipments for timely dispatch.
  • Work closely with managers to support customer inquiries, discrepancies, inventory maintenance, and database updates.
  • Maintain files for validation of data and prepare reports of information and sample data.
  • Participate in process improvement and safety focused activities.
  • Handle and inventory specimens at various temperatures, adhering to safety and compliance guidelines.
