JOB SUMMARY

A fantastic opportunity at GKN Cowes has come for the role of an Operational Training Co-ordinator. As an Operational Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering both classroom and on-the-job training to ensure our employees are equipped with the skills, knowledge and needs to excel. You will collaborate with Team Leaders to identify training needs, update materials to meet GKN standards and lead initiatives that foster a culture for learning and improvement. You will also support the Team, Team Leader and Inspectors with problem solving by contributing ideas and solutions based upon own experiences of tasks

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Displays a safety first mind-set at all times.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines and schedules.
  • Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Works effectively within, and can adhere to standardised processes and/or work instructions.
  • Able to work both independently, or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail.
  • Can train teams within a classroom environment.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members in any situation.
  • Able to solve problems using a structured method such as Kaizen or similar.
  • Capability to review and develop training instructions.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an organisation with a Lean / continuous improvement culture.
  • Ability to design and create manufacturing training programs.
  • Formal Qualification that’s inclusive to teaching and learning approaches.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and Coach new and underperforming Operators to the required standard.
  • Support and install a single skills Matrix across all value streams that encompass the direct Operational framework.
  • Review and update the training records to 1 repeatable standard across all Operational value streams
  • Transfer and manage all training within Operations over to the learning Management system.
  • Undertake all tasks in compliance with standard work and the training provided.
  • At all times, comply with the Site’s Business Management System (BMS) / Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Make any problems; safety, quality, or other immediately known to the Team Leader or Inspector.
  • Be a Lean advocate implementing at least 1 Kaizen (problem identified and solved) per month.
  • Support the Team, Team Leader & Inspectors with problem solving by contributing ideas and solutions based upon own experience of tasks.
  • Understand the Team’s key performance indicators for People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost and their personal contribution to improving them.
  • Hold themselves and fellow team members accountable to the 5 GKNA culture principles (Safe, Respect & Care, Open & Honest, Innovative, Ownership).
  • Comply with all GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements including export control regulations.
  • Be an active Team member, contribute to team engagement activities and help create a ‘Great Place to Work’ through supporting a safe working environment, problem solving and supporting colleagues.
