MAJOR FUNCTION:

The City of Tallahassee’s Underground Utilities & Public Infrastructure (UUPI) team is looking for an experienced training professional to design, lead, and deliver technical and safety training programs across all UUPI divisions. This is a professional, high-impact role where you’ll work directly with field crews, plant operators, and supervisors, helping them build the skills, knowledge, and confidence to stay safe, stay compliant, and excel in serving our community.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, occupational safety, engineering, environmental science, public administration, or a closely related field; and
  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in training development and delivery within water, wastewater, public infrastructure, or a closely related utility environment. Of this, at least two years must include professional or technical experience in conducting training, teaching, or managing safety programs in the utilities, environmental, or industrial safety and health fields.

OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent; and
  • At least five years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or operation of water, wastewater, stormwater, streets, or related public infrastructure systems; and
  • At least two years of professional or technical experience in conducting training, teaching, or managing safety programs in the utilities, environmental, or industrial safety and health fields.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have and maintain a valid Class E Florida Driver’s License (or equivalent) as a condition of continued employment.
  • Individuals in this classification are considered essential during emergency and storm situations and must be able to work 16 hours per day for extended periods of time and may be required to be away from their families.
    NOTE: Candidates holding a Florida DEP Level III Water Distribution System License and/or a FWPCOA Wastewater Collection System Operator Class C certification may be given preference.

    Pay: $24.18 - $65.63 per hour
