JOB OVERVIEW

This non supervisory position, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for inspecting, testing and assessing product conformance to customer and/or company specifications in order to maintain optimum product quality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma

  • 2 years experience as an Operator/Inspector 1 or equivalent QA or QC experience
  • Fundamentals of QA course (Conestoga College)
  • Good writt en and oral communicati on skills
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Windows, Excel and Word
  • Good trouble shooting skills
  • Good decision making skills

The Candidate Shall Acquire

  • Further QA courses, to obtain a QA certificate

Responsibilities
  • Trains new Operator Inspectors as required.
  • Advises and instructs operators re new procedures.
  • Operates computer, calculator, testers and various gauges.
  • Maintains workplace in a neat orderly manner.
  • Remains at workplace operating machines until relieved to maintain continuous operations.
  • Monitors Continuous Operations of Machines
  • Assembles boxes, fills boxes with product (according to inspection standards), tapes and date stamps.
  • Load Boxes on Skids
  • Stamps product boxes, bins and totes with an Approval Stamp
  • Receives and complies with instructi on writt en and verbal.
  • Report Status of Quality as well as oil or water leaks or other problems to Shift Supervisor or Technician
  • Communicate to other Shift QC or Operator Inspectors
  • Complete logs, reports and charts and fi les all pertinent documentation
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by supervision/management
  • Completes Daily Log Report & DMR.
  • Records part weight on the Cavitation Sheet
  • Keeps machine and work-area clean and clear of parts and debris.
  • Grinds rejected products with approval from foreman as necessary.
  • Provides back up for Q.C. Inspectors as assigned which includes:
  • Startup inspections, visual, dimensional and destructive tests.
  • Tests and records results of retained samples.
  • Records nonconforming material in logbook and completes subsequent re-inspection.
  • Final inspection procedures as required.
  • Receives direction from supervisor and various standard procedure manuals for QC.
  • Start-up Inspections (Visual, Dimensional, Destructive) in accordance with Q.C. guidelines.
  • Completes visual inspections.
  • Inspection of product from molding machines on a continuous basis.
  • Takes shots for colour changes and Start-ups and records necessary information on all forms.
  • Completes label accuracy check (for W/O Production Order #) for product boxes and bins.
  • Completes product box and bin inspections for product conformance.
  • Completes testi ng and recording of retained samples (Gauging).
  • Checks T/E product for tear band breakage.
  • Verifi cati on and bagging of in process retained samples.
  • Verify product conformance and clear tables.
  • Follows all plant rules and regulati ons.
  • Works in a safe manner using all prescribed safety equipment and devices and eliminates and/or reports all safety hazards that may occur.
  • Ensures that all requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Company’s Health and Safety policies and procedures are followed by yourself and those you supervise or direct.
