Job Summary: The incumbent will be responsible for operating and maintaining horizontal directional drilling equipment to ensure accurate and efficient installation of utility lines, such as gas, water, and telecommunications. Key Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain horizontal directional drilling equipment, including but not limited to, directional drills, mud mixing systems, and electronic guidance equipment. - Conduct pre-operational checks on drilling equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any potential issues. - Review and interpret plans, blueprints, and maps to determine the layout and route of underground utility lines. - Set up drilling sites and prepare the required equipment for operation. - Operate drilling equipment to create the necessary bore path for utility line installation, ensuring accuracy and precision. - Monitor drilling activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations. - Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues that may arise during drilling operations. - Perform routine maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity. - Keep accurate records of drilling operations, including site conditions, drilling progress, and any equipment maintenance or repairs conducted. - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure that project requirements are met effectively and efficiently. - Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times. Requirements Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional vocational or technical certifications in drilling operations or a related field is preferred. - At least one year of previous experience operating HDD directional drilling equipment is essential. - Strong knowledge of horizontal directional drilling techniques, equipment, and safety procedures. - Proficient in reading and interpreting plans, blueprints, and maps. - Familiarity with utility line installation and understanding of utility construction practices. - Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues effectively. - Physically fit and able to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. - Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused during repetitive tasks. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
