Package: $67,487.68 - $74,493.77 + 11.5% Super (Grade 5 of the SMRC Salary System 2025-2026)
Position Description: Operator Network

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Contribute to the delivery of quality water and wastewater services to the community
  • Undertake installation, maintenance and monitoring works on Council’s water and wastewater network including water supply and wastewater drainage systems ensuring compliance with legislative requirements
  • Document, monitor and review water and wastewater data in electronic and hard copy format, reporting anomalies as required
  • Contribute to cross-team collaboration through information and knowledge sharing and providing support for maintenance and operations of treatment plants
  • Establish and maintain customer and stakeholder relationships through effective communication to ensure positive outcomes
  • Be available for weekend and on-call rosters and be available to respond to emergency call-outs when required
  • Monitor own work performance and progress towards the delivery of work plan goals and report on progress to team leaders
  • Use resources efficiently, effectively and responsibly to complete tasks that either contribute to or directly deliver services
  • Contribute to the performance of Council: demonstrate professional conduct, make the best use of knowledge, experience and skills and be accountable for own decisions and actions
  • Contribute to a safe workplace: comply with legislative and organisational requirements and be accountable for own decisions and actions

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated contemporary experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small plant and hand tools competently. Including lawnmowers, whipper snippers, sludge pumps, powered cut-off saws, grinders, drill, and water snorter (pipeline pressure cleaner)
  • Construction Induction White Card
  • Ability and willingness to undertake confined spaces training courses including refresher courses
  • Physically fit to complete all aspects of the position
  • Experience in Treatment Plant Operations or ability and willingness to undertake training for both water and wastewater operations
  • Ability and willingness to work weekend and on-call rosters and be available to respond to emergency call-outs when required
  • Demonstrated literacy and computer skills with the ability to complete paper and electronic forms and record data
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation’s strategic goals
  • Current Class C drivers licence
