Job Description About the role Reporting to the Site Operations and Maintenance Supervisor, our Pinkenba Terminal Operator role assists in managing and controlling the safe and efficient running of the terminal. Day to day you can expect to assist in terminal, shipping and pipeline operations always ensuring safety and reliability, working with contractors, providing leadership of health, safety, security and environment, while monitoring and maintaining site integrity through hazard/risk identification and control implementation. You will be provided training in all fuel terminal and shipping operations procedures, learning a broad range of key tasks and processes. Once training is complete the role requires ability to work on a 24/7 rotating shift roster. A day in the life of a Terminal Operator: Manage product receipts from ships and pipelines into the terminal Conduct product quality testing and associated activities. Conduct routine inspections of site equipment to ensure optimal performance Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. Operate and monitor process equipment such as tanks, pipelines, pumps, instrumentation and PLC control systems Communicate effectively with team members to plan the weeks activities and ensure they are completed safely and efficiently Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills Complete daily administrative tasks such as stock recording Issue safe work permits to contractors to ensure maintenance work is conducted safely On the job training will be provided to gradually build your skills and develop competence over time. Full competence is typically achieved after two years however your competence will be verified on individual tasks as each skill is obtained. The following skills and experience will be a benefit to applicants: Previous experience in a similar role or a process background Trades or mechanical aptitude Understanding of permit to work systems Qualifications To be successful you must demonstrate the following: Enthusiasm and commitment to learning and development Strong communication skills with a positive outlook Ability to solve problems Desire to work with and contribute to a high performing team Reliable and trustworthy Strong commitment to HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) and a desire to continuously improve in these areas Ability to hold a forklift licence and MSIC A current driver's licence Please note that pre-employment medical and health assessment is a requirement of the selection process.
