About the role - Operator Technician (Winnemucca, NV) We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for an Operator Technician within our Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team. This role will be responsible for operations regarding rail and freight loading and unloading, as well as basic process equipment. With high priorities placed on safety and health, protection of the environment and economics, convert raw materials into liquid sodium cyanide and ensure timely shipments to the customers.Role dimensions This is an on-site, hourly, full-time position Rotating day and night shifts 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM Work environment Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks, coordinating activities with other workers to ensure constant product flow Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped, gauge readings, and operating times, manually or using computers Check conditions and weights of vessels to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures Railcar groundwork – connecting and disconnecting couplers and air lines and spotting for the railcar mover Set manual brakes on rail cars Provide groundskeeping services, such as clearing weeds Perform other duties as assigned What you will be doing Monitor product movement to and from storage tanks, coordinating activities with other workers to ensure constant product flow Record operating data such as products and quantities pumped, gauge readings, and operating times, manually or using computers Check conditions and weights of vessels to ensure cleanliness and compliance with loading procedures Railcar groundwork – connecting and disconnecting couplers and air lines and spotting for the railcar mover Set manual brakes on rail cars Provide groundskeeping services, such as clearing weeds Perform other duties as assigned What you will bring Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
