We are seeking a Full-Time energetic and reliable individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Special Tester. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing chair-side doctor assistance, performing diagnostic tests as required by ophthalmologist, and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Obtains patient history, to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications. Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are full. Performs duties consistent with ophthalmic writer/scribe. Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include: Visual acuity Manual lensometry confrontational visual fields Stereopsis Motility Pupillary function Color Plates Applanation tonometry Humphrey Visual Field Provides patient education; reviews physician-generated instructions with patient, and provides appropriate patient education materials as directed by physician. Maintains stock levels and cleanliness of exam rooms. Ability to travel to all office locations and work with any doctor as assigned. Participate in duties interdepartmentally as deemed necessary, by the clinical supervisor, office manager, and/or doctor(s). Requirements Education & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent GED, required Minimum of three (3) months experience in a medical office/healthcare setting; ophthalmology, preferred Core Competencies: Excellent verbal communication skills. English / Spanish skills a plus Solid writing skills including accurate spelling Superior Customer / Patient service. A professional and respectful approach Team oriented Strong Attention to detail skills Solid computer skills
