JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Bank Ophthalmic Nurse
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Nursing Lead
LOCATION: London and Elstree
SALARY SCALE: £21.00 - £24.00 (Depending on experience)

OTHER ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • RGN registration.
  • Ophthalmology theatre experience.
  • ILS and ALS desirable or willingness to undertake.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe practice by adhering to the NMC code of practice and all relevant local, national, and professional standards.
  • Assist theatre lead and surgeons in providing excellent care to all patients.
  • Carry out admissions and discharge of theatre patients, including preoperative checks, patient dilation (if required), explain patient medication to take out after surgery and dos and don’ts.
  • Prepare next day TTO’s
  • Check the accuracy and completeness of theatre notes.
  • Carry out pre-assessment for theatre patients.
  • Complete the medical records on EPR system.
  • Manage admission’s room stock and consumables, including medication
  • Participate in audit and risk assessments in the clinic.
  • Keep up to date with relevant developments within ophthalmology and surgical field of practice.
  • Always observe patient and clinic confidentiality.
  • Undertake mandatory training as required and to provide evidence of completion in a timely manner, including annual appraisal.
