JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide external and fundus photography, OCT and fluorescein angiography services to the department of Ophthalmology. Work well, without supervision, with patients aged 16 to 97+. (essential)
  • Explain OCT, fluorescein angiogram and fundus photography procedures to patients. Communicate with patients to relieve fear and anxiety about the photographic procedure. (essential)
  • Maintain cameras and equipment. Create and maintain records of patients and types of photography taken; cross reference diagnoses/patient database. (essential)
  • Communicates with medical staff to ensure quality of service and verify adequate documentation of disease processes. (essential)
  • Perform equipment maintenance and repair procedures when necessary. (essential)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in an Ophthalmology Practice. Graduate of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program.

SOCIAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
  2. Work is fairly routine from day to day. Employee follows a set pattern with any changes being communicated by supervisor.
    3.Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions
  3. Several times a week: Protective equipment required(Respirator,earplugs,mask,gloves,eyewear etc), Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or airborne pathogens, Potential exposure to infectious diseases and/or bloodborne pathogens.
  4. Health Care Status: HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes). Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.- Health Care Worker Status may vary by department

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Color vision/perception, Visual monotony, Visual clarity > 20 feet, Visual clarity <3 feet, Monitoring Equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
This job requires constant standing,frequent walking, bending neck, bending waist, twisting neck, twisting waist, Power Grasping using both hands, Fine Manipulation using both hands, Pushing/Pulling using both hands.There may be occasional Keyboard use.
