POSITION SUMMARY: The Ophthalmic Technician II supports ophthalmologists by performing advanced clinical tasks, diagnostic testing, and assisting with patient care. This role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures, excellent patient communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The Technician II serves as a mentor to junior staff and contributes to the overall efficiency and quality of eye care services. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient intake and workup, following standardized protocol.? Determining visual acuity Performing automated refraction Administering eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions to the eye as ordered by physician. Awareness of patient flow issues and ability to maintain efficient clinical flow. Obtaining and documenting patient history. Measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry) Pre-operative preparation of patient. Maintaining equipment and instruments Performing office duties and clinical tasks - entering data into EMR, providing patient services Facilitates patient experience by assisting physician in overall patient care.? Works within the confines of the team by assisting other departments with answers to questions, patient triage, etc.?Counsel and educate the patients as needed.? Updates daily schedule by assessing no-shows and add-ins. ? Stocking and cleaning clinic as needed.? Other duties as assigned.? REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent required.? Positive attitude and a love for helping others! Prior experience in a fast-paced medical office and in electronic health record preferred.? Dependable transportation required to travel to other offices as required. Must be flexible with traveling to various locations as needed. Minimum of three years of ophthalmic technician experience required. COA preferred or the commitment to obtain a COA within three years of employment.
