We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service. Hourly rate commensurate with experience will pay higher rate for current COA or COT. Candidate will be required to participate in an onsite skills assessment prior to being made an offer of employment. Requirements The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: · Collecting and recording patient medical history · Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations. · Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure) · Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLA · Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function) · Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (Corneal thickness measurement) · Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testing · Participating in light cleaning of the facility · Maintaining a sanitized environment · Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography · Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts. · Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patients · Assisting with Lasers or minor procedures Travel: Travel may be required to support clinics in Greater St. Petersburg area. Pay provided for travel time AND reimbursement for mileage. Qualifications: · Minimal of one year in Ophthalmology Preferred: · Certification through JCAHPO · Associates Degree Skills and Abilities: · Superior interpersonal and communications skills. · Ability to perform manifest refraction is required · Ability to perform tonometry is required. · Ability to effectively multitask · Attentive to detail and accuracy.
