Description Description Responsible for daily patient care flow. Performs a number of data collection functions as delegated by the physician and/or Clinic Manager to allow for proper professional diagnosis, treatment, and care of patient’s condition(s) Essential Functions Acquaint all new patients with office procedures to which they will be exposed Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, medical history (ocular and general), family history (ocular and general), and history of allergies and medications Performs accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks for new and follow-up patients: Vision acuity, lensometry, entrance tests, contact and non-contact tonometry, refraction, slit lamp exam, angle assessment, and dilation Maintains and cleans all equipment being used Maintains patient confidentiality Attends required meetings Availability to travel to Dade and Broward offices when necessary Requirements Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Technician (COT) preferred Minimum 2 years of experience as an ophthalmic technician or surgical assistant Strong knowledge of ophthalmic instruments, procedures, and terminology Familiarity with EMR systems (experience with NextGen is a plus) Excellent organizational skills and diligence Ability to travel daily Excellent customer service and communication skills Full workup and clinical assistant tasks, or scribing or basic testing tasks VSP Vision is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to age, gender, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
