The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is looking for a motivated, hardworking individuals to fill (OPS Health Educator reclassing to an OPS Staff Assistant) positions located in Sanford, FL.
Condition of Employment:
This position may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disasters or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. This position will maintain confidentiality and security of records as specified by departmental regulations and laws.
This position requires a Valid Florida Driver License.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
The OPS Staff Assistant for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program at the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County plays a central role in ensuring that eligible individuals receive timely cancer screenings and follow-up care. In this capacity, the educator assists with evaluating incoming referrals against program criteria—verifying demographic information, insurance coverage, and medical history—before coordinating appointments for both in-office consultations and mobile mammogram bus visits. Navigating complex schedules and tight timelines, the educator maintains clear and compassionate communication with clients and clinical staff to confirm bookings, manage rescheduling, and address barriers such as transportation or language needs.
In addition to appointment coordination, the educator sustains the program’s integrity through meticulous data management and administrative support. This includes entering client details, screening outcomes, and billing claims into the Health Management System and supplemental tracking spreadsheets, as well as conducting routine audits of electronic and paper files to uphold compliance and accuracy. Simultaneously, the educator handles essential office functions including but not limited to, coding and processing invoices, managing certified and routine mail, overseeing supply inventories, and performing filing, scanning, and other clerical tasks.
The assistant will be required to participate in community outreach events, educational sessions, and supports on-site logistics for mammogram bus events. This includes assisting clients with forms, escorting them to the screening bus, and preparing materials ahead of time. Provides interdepartmental and community collaboration through refers to internal or external programs and collaborates with the Regional Coordinator to build and maintain community partnerships that are essential for recruitment and improved screening rates.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis; basic management principles and practices; Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices; organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials; conduct fact-finding research; utilize problem-solving techniques; work independently; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational and management analysis activities; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Do you have two years of verifiable experience registering and scheduling client appointments in a medical office management or healthcare setting?
Willing to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment.
