JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Nutrient Management Lab at Everglades Research and Education Center is seeking a full-time Lab Assistant (OPS) to support ongoing research in crop nutrient management. The following list is not all-inclusive, nor does it cover the full extent of duties to be performed:

  • Conduct field, greenhouse and laboratory studies
  • Conduct routine and specialized soil nutrient analyses.
  • Prepare soil samples (e.g., weighing soils, extracting, aliquoting) and chemical reagents.
  • Maintain clean, organized laboratory spaces and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Support general lab operations (inventory, equipment upkeep).

Assist with preliminary data checks, basic analysis, and data organization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong soil/plant science or soil chemistry background with hands-on field and laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., spreadsheets or statistical software) is a plus.
