Job Summary:
We are seeking a customer-focused Optical Assistant to join our team. As an Optical Assistant, you will assist optometrists and opticians in providing excellent eye care services to our patients. Your role will involve performing various administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our optical practice.
Duties:
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment
- Collect patient information and update medical records accurately
- Assist with preliminary eye tests, including visual acuity and color vision testing
- Prepare examination rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization
- Assist optometrists during eye examinations, including documenting patient history and symptoms
- Educate patients on proper contact lens insertion, removal, and care techniques
- Dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses, ensuring accurate measurements and fitting
- Perform basic repairs and adjustments on eyeglasses frames
- Maintain inventory of optical supplies and place orders as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in optometry or ophthalmology is a plus
- Previous experience as an Optical Assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Bubbly staff able to draw in new patients
- Proficient computer skills for data entry and electronic medical record management
