JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our optical practice, assisting both customers and optometrists. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for eye care and a desire to contribute to patient satisfaction through exceptional service.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in an optical setting or laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and vision is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and team members.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all tasks performed.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Assist customers in selecting eyewear, providing guidance on frame styles and lens options.
  • Conduct preliminary eye tests and gather patient history to support optometrists in their assessments.
  • Maintain the practice ensuring that all equipment is clean, organised, and functioning properly.
  • Prepare and dispense prescriptions as directed by the optometrist.
  • Manage inventory levels of frames, lenses, and other optical supplies, placing orders as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
  • Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage to enhance their experience.
