Overview Location: 3/2 Hybrid arrangement; Office located in Downtown Pittsburgh (free parking) Job Type: Full time Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card A.C.Coy is currently seeking candidates for an Optical Network Engineer role. This individual will serve as a technical leader and escalation point for complex network incidents and customer issues, responsible for advanced troubleshooting, lab-based replication of network events, and driving resolution of service impacts. Our ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in networking or telecommunications and a strong understanding of optical fiber characteristics and IP transport principles. Responsibilities Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Engineering, and Service Delivery teams to create, enhance, and support scalable, high-performance services Monitor and analyze network performance and operational anomalies affecting end-customer connectivity Serve as high level of escalation for customer technical support and NOC-reported alarms Administer ISP core infrastructure, including Juniper and Nokia routers, DNS, web servers, and email servers Design and implement customer IP/Transport network solutions including routers, switches, and firewalls Lead and manage complex network projects, including hardware specification, testing, proof-of-concept development, and scheduling Document and train Service Operations teams on network systems and operational procedures Develop enterprise-grade ISP and Managed Service solutions tailored to customer requirements Partner with Sales Engineering to streamline project workflows and engage with stakeholders on solution design and implementation Support the development and launch of new network products and services Qualifications Required: 5+ years of Engineering experience in networking, telecommunications, or a related industry Strong understanding of optical fiber characteristics and IP transport principles Ability to participate in On-call rotation for 24/7 escalation support Preferred: CCIE Certification Specific experience with ISP Network Automation Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field Proven expertise in MPLS, BGP, iBGP, OSPF, QoS, and Metro Ethernet technologies Additional vendor-specific certifications (e.g., JNCIP, CCNP, JNCIE)
