About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and team-oriented Optical Technician to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is perfect for someone who is skilled, meticulous, and has a passion for optical craftsmanship, thriving in a detail-oriented environment. Whether you possess extensive experience or are new to the field, your eagerness to learn, grow, and master new skills is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edging: Operate lens edging equipment to shape and finish lenses according to prescriptions. Ensure lenses are cut accurately to match frame specifications and customer requirements.
  • Verification: Conduct thorough verification of lenses to ensure they meet the optical standards and prescriptions. This includes checking lens power, thickness, and centration.
  • Invoicing: Prepare invoices for new orders, ensuring all charges are accurate and include any special services or warranties. Manage billing inquiries for new orders.
  • Ordering: Manage the ordering process for lenses, frames, and other optical supplies. Maintain stock lens inventory levels to ensure that materials are always available for immediate use.
  • Repairs: Perform repairs on eyewear, including frame adjustments, screw replacements, and minor damages to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven track record in lens edging and optical lab operations preferred.
  • Student Opticians Welcome: Future, current students or recent graduates in opticianry or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Proficient in using optical laboratory equipment.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Basic computer skills for managing orders and invoicing.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • A keen desire to expand knowledge and enhance existing skill sets through continuous learning.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, handle small tools, and work with precision instruments.

Additional Information:

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6 – 15 per week
