Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Adjust and repair glasses. Teach the insert and removal of contacts. Educate patients on differences in materials and progressive lens styles. Neutralize and transpose prescriptions Take accurate optical measurements. Discuss differences in contact lens brands and modalities. Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required Two years of experience as an optician in a busy practice is preferred ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have proficient computer skills Must be able to problem-solve Must be detailed-oriented Must have a working knowledge of post-operative Medicare, Medicare Replacement, and Medicaid plans Must have excellent communication skills, proper grammar, and writing capability Must be team-oriented Must be self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Must be able to accurately and efficiently handle multiple projects at one time Must have exceptional interpersonal skills Must possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude Must be familiar with all forms associated with the patient’s medical record (paper / electronic) Must be familiar with the use and operation of optical software Must be thoroughly knowledgeable with lenses, frames, and all-optical supplies Must have a complete understanding of optical inventory Must have outstanding sales ability Wide-ranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewear Must have experience in conflict resolution If you seek new adventures in patient care and are passionate about going above and beyond to ensure all patients are given the best care and patient experience, we want to hear from you... Responsibilities
