We are seeking an experienced Optomechanical Engineer to join the Photonics Platforms Business team. This role focuses on the design and integration of AR waveguide display systems and integrated optics to enable the inflection of consumer smart glasses with displays. You will work at the intersection of optics, mechanics, and materials science to invent the future of high-performance, light-weight and manufacturable see-thru display solutions. Key Responsibilities · Design and develop optomechanical assemblies for waveguide-based display systems. · Collaborate with nano-photonics, optical, mechanical and packaging engineers to integrate optical components in smart eyewear · Perform tolerance analysis, thermal and structural simulations for optomechanical systems · Support prototyping, testing, and validation of integrated optics and waveguide assemblies. · Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design-for-manufacturability, reliability and scalability. · Drive continuous improvement in design processes and documentation. Qualifications · Education: BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field. Experience: o 5+ years in optomechanical design of commercial optical modules o Hands-on experience with waveguide displays and smart eyewear · Skills: o Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V). o Strong understanding of optical alignment, tolerancing, thermal deformation and environmental reliability o Familiarity with precision manufacturing and assembly processes for optics. o Knowledge of optical adhesives and coatings o Experience with environmental sealing for optics · Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with AR/VR display systems, diffractive waveguide displays, prescriptions lenses and dimming solutions · Experience with product development process and supporting NPI from EVT to production ramp · Hands on experience with metrology tools for optical and mechanical inspection. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable. For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
