Pay Range: $20 - $25 per hour (based on experience)
Team Size: 7 Members
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Optometric Assistant and Receptionist to join our fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient interactions and conducting preliminary eye tests, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients while supporting our Optometrist’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments using Optosys and manage the calendar effectively.
  • Manage doctor appointment recalls and doctor’s referrals.
  • Track and manage payments for the Optometrist.
  • Handle billing and insurance verification processes.
  • Identify doctor’s needs and sales opportunities to enhance services and to ensure that all client and clinic needs are met.
  • Conduct pre-testing procedures, including using Auto Refractor, Tonometer, Lensometer, and Retinal Imaging.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to record-keeping practices.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Maintaining supplies for the Optometrist.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Medical Office Assistant (MOA) certification is preferred.
  • Experience in the medical field is an asset; optometry experience is preferred but not necessary.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Familiarity with eye care terminology is a significant advantage but can be learned on the job.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced team environment with a focus on team collaboration and patient care.
  • Expected working hours are 3-4 days to begin,

Attributes for Success:

  • Optical and medical knowledge, experience in pre-testing.
  • Strong customer service background in a medical office setting.
  • Prior knowledge of the eye exam process is preferred.
