JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. You will assist with various tasks that enhance the patient experience. You primary job will be performing pre-exam testing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and a keen interest in the optical field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred, particularly in optometry. We are happy to train an applicant who is enthusiastic to learn new skills and desires to join a dynamic team
    Job Type: Part-time
    Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week

Responsibilities
  • Greet and assist patients as they arrive, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring all necessary equipment and electronic instrumentation is ready.
  • Perform diagnostic testing and other pre-test testing as required
  • Maintain efficient patient flow through pre-screen are and exam room ensuring patients and reception are informed of delays-hand off patients to other departments
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist patients in contact lens training, trials, ordering and arranging follow up visits.
  • Support retail sales by promoting optical products and services to patients.
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively when communicating with patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow within the practice.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, leadership team and the general public
