OVERVIEW

Our growing Optometry practice is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant/Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate would be someone who is friendly and a quick learner. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. You will assist with various clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow while maintaining a welcoming environment for our patients.

EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred, particularly in optometry or ophthalmology.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge is essential.
  • Experience with EMR systems, specifically Crystal Practice Management.
  • Understanding of medical records management, medical coding, and billing processes is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy office.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.

Responsibilities
  • Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Maintain a clean office environment.
  • Answer phone calls, text messages and emails in a timely manner.
  • Manage flow of a busy schedule.
  • Pull insurance authorizations and prepare patient charts.
  • Provide excellent patient care by assisting with intake procedures, including gathering medical history and vital signs.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit.
  • Scribe during the exam for the doctor.
  • Performing OCT, Optos, Visual Field, and other pre-exam tests.
  • Sending drug prescriptions to pharmacies via e-prescribe and being in communication with pharmacies and patients regarding their medications.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care and usage.
