Description

OPTOMETRIC ASSISTANT POSITION

Consider joining our caring and dedicated office team in Peterborough’s top rated optometry practice.
Invision Eyecare has a long history of excellent patient care in a large practice located on Lansdowne Street. The practice has 3 doctors and a team of 12 employees.
If you have an outgoing personality and enjoy working within a positive work environment, you may be a perfect fit!
The role of Optometric Assistant is the Swiss Army Knife of the optometry world - although you will start by primarily working in the reception area, you may also be working in all areas of the practice and learning new skills that can set you up for a long-term career in Eyecare.
For those who are interested in further development, we may pay a portion of the fees for you to get your Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant designation (CCOA) and/or your Optician’s License.
Our growing team enjoys promotion from within and competitive salaries.

The successful candidate will learn to handle all of the tasks in an optometry office from reception, preliminary diagnostic testing, to dispensing and quality control. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working closely with our optometrists and teammates to provide excellent patient/customer care
  • Educating patients on eye health and related issues
  • Insurance billings
  • Accurate and careful handling of patient files
  • Reception and telephone duties
  • Preliminary diagnostic testing
  • Data entry, accurately completing daily reports
  • Helping patients choose optical frames and lenses

Strong communication skills and attention to detail are a must. An ideal candidate is self-motivated to grow and learn. Experience is an asset but we are open to those who are new to Optometry as well.
Compensation will vary based on your experience.
