JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the daily operations of our optometry practice. You will assist with various clinical tasks, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of service during their visits.

SKILLS

  • Strong patient care skills with a focus on empathy and communication.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Experience in optical settings or ophthalmology is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, is advantageous.
  • Retail math skills for managing sales transactions effectively.
  • Experience in clinic settings or pediatrics is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history and current health information.
  • Measure and record vital signs to assist in patient assessments.
  • Perform preliminary eye exams and tests.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques while preparing examination rooms and equipment.
  • Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR) using systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide education to patients regarding eye health, treatment options, and proper eyewear care.
  • Handle front desk responsibilities, including appointment scheduling and patient check-in/out processes.
  • Support retail sales by assisting patients with eyewear selection and processing transactions.
  • Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
