The role of the Optometrist Assistant is to assist the optometrist in delivering eye health care services. Their role is to ensure and optimize day-to-day smooth operation of the practice and to respond effectively and positively to patient needs. In addition, the Optometric Assistant must have exceptional interpersonal, communication and time management skills.

Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Greeting patient in person, by telephone, or online
• Registering patients on eVisionCare
• Pre-screening patients and other auxiliary tests
• Teaching patients insertion and removal of contact lenses
• Facilitate patient referrals to other health care professionals
• Assist in ordering contact lenses and ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner

Requirements:

• Strong interpersonal skills are necessary (friendly and caring)
• Must be proficient with computers and monetary transactions
• Customer service experience preferred (Reception, Retail, etc.)
• Must demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Prior experience is an asset but not required

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.20-$19.00 per hour
