OVERVIEW

We are seeking a licensed optometrist to provide essential optometry services to Correctional Services Canada in the Kingston and surrounding areas. The optometrist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary health services team including nurses, physicians, dentists, psychologists, and other allied professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current license in good standing with the provincial optometry licensing body.
• Minimum 6 months of licensed optometry experience in Canada within the last 2 years.

  Pay: $115.00-$150.00 per hour

• Conduct general eye exams and diagnose disorders (e.g., glaucoma, diabetes-related conditions).
• Perform visual acuity tests and prescribe corrective lenses.
• Treat conditions such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and uveitis.
• Fit and adjust frames; perform minor repairs (hinges, temples, nose pads).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists as needed.
• Document assessments and treatments in CSC’s Electronic Health Care Record.
• Participate in grievance/investigation processes when required.
• Provide backup coverage during absences and attend meetings as requested.
