Description SUMMARY: DotHouse Health is seeking an optometrist to join our eye care team for 32-40 hours/week. The eye care service is located within an urban multidisciplinary health center that serves a diverse patient base and delivers care to thousands of Dorchester residents annually. The DotHouse eye clinic is a teaching facility affiliated with the New England College of Optometry. The optometrist will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Eye Care. The optometrist will provide comprehensive primary eye care services, co-manage cases with medical providers, and supervise and instruct student interns and residents. GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct patient care as scheduled and as needed Supervises and supports the education of student externs and residents Consults with medical providers on patients as needed Timely completion of visit documentation in EMR Ensuring proper referrals as needed Performs other related duties as needed Maintain current knowledge of developments in the field and be responsible for self-development through continuing education programs. Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Optometry licensure, TPA +GC certification, and residency training or commensurate clinical experience are required. Must be eligible for credentialing through Boston Medical Center. Commitment to quality eye care and community health care is required. Customer service oriented with strong analytical skills. Must be available for one evening session weekly and one Saturday session monthly. PREFERRED: One year of clinical experience is desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are preferred.
