Facility information: Fort Duchesne Health Center Position Details Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Duration: Up to 1-year contract with potential extensions Setting: IHS facility – serving adults and pediatrics Experience Required: 2–3 years of family optometry Preferred: Previous Locum Tenens experience Certification: BLS required License: Any active U.S. state license accepted Role & Responsibilities Provide full-scope primary eye care independently, with support staff assistance. Perform comprehensive eye exams, obtain and document medical histories in the EHR, and develop accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans. Prescribe eyewear, contact lenses, and medications; order and interpret ancillary testing (OCT, visual fields, imaging, etc.). Perform minor surgical procedures (such as foreign body removal, papilloma excision) and provide pre- and post-operative care. Coordinate follow-up and referrals as needed.
