Job Description Under the direction and supervision of the professional staff, performs direct and indirect patient activities and related patient care services necessary in caring for the needs and comforts of patients. Administers patient hygiene, ensures patient safety and comfort, assists professional staff with examinations, procedures, treatments and patient instruction and guidance. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of patient care unit. Replenishes patient supplies as needed. Performs related duties as required. Job Responsibility * Picks up patients from all areas of the hospital. Escorts and transports patients. Performs postmortem care, transport bodies to morgue. * Assists patients by giving and removing bedpans and urinals; assists to commode or bathroom.Assists with dress or undress as needed. Provides observation on a one to one basis when required.Turns and positions patients, ambulates and transfers patients.Provides comfort measure as required * Collects, labels and sends specimens to laboratory: retrieves blood products from blood bank as directed by professional staff * Receives assignment and report from professional staff during work shift. * Maintains orderliness of O.R., including rooms, sub-sterile area, hallways, holding area, etc. * Maintains a safe, clean environment, carries out appropriate isolations. Cleans and disinfects equipment, prepares instruments for sterilization, carries out sterilization as needed. * Assists other employees and professional staff with administration of treatments, as needed. * Gathers all equipment for case i.e video equipment appropriate tables, arm boards, I.V poles, etc. Returns unused equipment to storage. Reports malfunctioning of equipment as needed to appropriate personnel. * Stock room cabinets as per par levels.Take inventory of supplies and restocks solutions and blankets daily. Maintains equipment and storage areas, including defrosting refrigerator. Performs related duties as required. *ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Prior experience as a Nursing Attendant, preferred. Certified Nurse Aide, preferred.
