Description
Cabell Huntington Hospital is seeking a part-time Attendant in our Operating Room.   The primary purpose of this position is to support the daily operations of Perioperative Services by providing safe handling and transporting of patients prior to and following surgery to the appropriate patient care areas, to maintain a terminally clean atmosphere in which to perform surgery - including properly disinfecting and cleaning surfaces, beds, and tables during room turnover; and removing trash, linens and case carts from the operating rooms.  Other duties include, but not limited to, assisting with: patient transfer from stretchers to OR tables; patient positioning; using proper sterile technique to gown, glove, and assist with patient skin prep; incontinence care of the patient; transporting stat lab and specimens to the lab; other duties assigned within the scope to support patient care; application of specialty equipment/beds; and assists with Environment of Care maintenance within the hospital setting. The individual must possess skills and competencies necessary to provide care to patients ranging in age from neonate to geriatric. This position requires compliance to all hospital policy, procedures, and process improvement plans including following the Lean Standard Workflow. Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent required. * Junior College/Technical School preferred. * AHA BLS Certification required. * Six months of position-related experience required: * Knowledge of sterile technique to gown and glove, assist in sterile preps, and assist in correct positioning of patients.  Knowledge of variety of cleaning solutions and dwell time in order to properly clean, disinfect, and kill pathogens on surfaces. Knowledge of and experience with transporting patients on stretchers and hospital beds along with contact isolation protocols is preferred. * Knowledge of medical terminology.
Responsibilities
The OR Attendant supports daily operations in the Operating Room by safely handling and transporting patients and maintaining a clean surgical environment. Responsibilities also include assisting with patient transfers, positioning, and cleaning tasks during room turnover.
