Caregivers in Weston Hospital’s Operating Room (OR) circulate a large variety of complex surgical cases in the 18-suite Operating Room, including but not limited to organ transplants, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases. As OR Service Assistant I, you will assist in transporting patients, set up the operating room and maintain and operate special equipment in the operating room as required. You will also coordinate equipment and supplies for service specific surgical cases, monitor and track the loaning/lending of supplies and equipment and ensure the availability and functionality of equipment and supplies for their services. A caregiver in this role works evenings + on-call shifts from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assist in transporting patients and setting up the OR. Maintain and operate surgical instrument set and special equipment in the OR. Maintain storage areas in the OR. Coordinate equipment and supplies for service specific surgical cases. Monitor and track the loaning/lending of supplies and equipment. Ensure proper sterile conditions and clean used instruments after surgery. Order supplies, stock, run labs and transport blood and materials. Assist in transporting patients and room turnover. Ensure service specific supply expiration dates are checked monthly. Coordinate and document equipment repairs and loaner return. Work as a liaison to educate staff in the proper use and functioning of equipment. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High school diploma or GED Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Sterile processing certification Customer service experience Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion to include handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds ad ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
