Overview As part of BJC HealthCare, Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world-class medicine along with the deep local roots and rich history of its three predecessors – Bonne Terre Hospital (opened in 1911), Mineral Area Regional Medical Center (1952), and Farmington Community Hospital (1969). Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri. In addition, Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study. ·The Surgical Services Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures in the areas of abdominal solid organ transplant, vascular surgery, hepatobiliary, trauma, ear-nose and throat, and orthopedic procedures. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Promotes respect, equity and empathy in interactions with diverse and vulnerable populations through care delivery (e.g. support for emotional, spiritual, and cultural preferences of patient, family and/or caregivers). Practices collaborative problem solving, service recovery and advocacy for patient family centered continuity of care. Implements care by integrating data from the interprofessional team and critical thinking in a safe and timely manner. Demonstrates their individual role to the ongoing advancement of nursing clinical practice (e.g. participation in community health events, professional organization membership, quality improvement, continuing education activities). Evaluates changes in patient's condition, informs and collaborates with family and/or caregivers, and communicates with interprofessional team as changes occur in plan of care, updates plan of care in EMR. Evaluates current nursing care to ensure evidence-based practice and quality patient outcomes. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
